Wikifier uses the detection of named entities to extract names, places and organizations from Wikipedia entries. Extracted words are identified with gray highlighting and passing the mouse over one of the words allows a small, semi-transparent, pop up window to appear displaying the information fed from Wikipedia (English version only).

This information currently represents: For the moment, 2 ways to use Wikifier exist:

What's next?

The new Wikifier version will be based on functionalities in Exalead Cloudview Search Edition. This version will not be limited only to content from Wikipedia but will also include all the content indexed by Exalead Cloudview Search Edition. The indexed content should be categorized as content for Wikifier. It will be visible for everyone and consequently does not take into account security information.

This version doesn’t rest only on the detection of named entities but also on custom thesauri. It will be possible to filter the type of entity that you wish to "wikify".

The demo is available at http://wikifier.labs.exalead.com/.
