What is Wikifier?
Wikifier provides web pages with content enrichment by displaying contextual information from Wikipedia.
The application uses named entities detection to extract people, places and organizations from Wikipedia entries.

Simply type a web page URL or a text to "wikify" it. Extracted words are identified with gray highlights. You just have to mouse over one of the highlighted words and a small pop-up window will appear, displaying information from Wikipedia.
Wikifier does not only rely on named entities detection but also on custom thesauri.
